Why a Small Press, and Why Now

Fenmark Press exists to publish a particular kind of book — mythic fiction and speculative worlds made with patience, and non-fiction that takes ideas seriously.

We are small by design. A small press can afford to care about the things that larger houses must sometimes treat as luxuries: the shape of a sentence, the weight of a page, the slow work of building a world that holds together. We would rather publish one book well than a dozen in haste.

This site will grow in real time, in step with the work itself. There is no pretence here of a long back catalogue we do not have. What there is, instead, is a clear intention and the first titles taking shape. We are glad you found us early.
